The National Strategic Research Institute (NSRI) at the University of Nebraska will provide mission-essential research and development capabilities in five distinct core competencies:
An NSRI partnership with USSTRATCOM and the Department of Defense aims to ensure the United States' safety and preparedness in response to threats to national security.
Department of Defense research funds awarded to the University of Nebraska grew from $7.3 million in 2001 to $34.8 million in 2011. Recognizing the University's commitment to outstanding research in this area, in 2012, USSTRATCOM entered in to a long-term partnership that will leverage research strengths in areas critical to national security.
For Partners, Faculty and Students
NSRI will allow significant opportunities for collaboration with external partners. University faculty will also have the opportunity to participate in NSRI if their research interests align with federal funding opportunities; also, NSRI plans to provide students with opportunities for careers in security or defense.
NSRI is a separate 501(c)3 organization, a subsidiary of University Technology Development Corporation, which is wholly owned by the University of Nebraska.
