Improvised and Clandestine Laboratory Course

The Improvised and Clandestine Laboratory Course is the laboratory follow-on to the Chemical Signatures Course. This course is intended to provide the first responder, support team member or the war fighter with exposure to the basic equipment and chemicals that would be used in the synthesis of warfare agents or Home Made Explosives (HMEs). The course provides a training environment for students and offered the opportunity to see, sample and assess active processes in mock synthetic laboratories. The synthetic sophistication level can be selected by a course coordinator and the accompanying equipment, chemicals and methods will be made available. This allows the course to be responsive to current or even real-time needs. An emphasis is placed upon creating realistic chemical production scenarios as well as crude deployment methods that students might encounter in the field. This course can also provide “equipment for loan” that can be used by USG teams wishing to train at sites other than the NSRI locations.
